John Harrell Esq is listed on the 1784 tax list but not the earlier 1779 head tax list – with 3 free poles [84] – Sam is listed separately – John is older and exempt from the head tax on himself and I think he may be the eldest brother of these folks or perhaps their father. all found near each other in Hertford County on 1779 Tax list

They moved to TN in 1806 along with her mother and step-father
Mary and William Copeland. Her brother John appears to have gone with them.
