Samuel Holloman, Christine & Martha

Sally’s family ties – 4- great – grandparents of R A Holloman III

Samuel Holloman ca 1752 – ca 1809 | his parents
& ca 1785 Christine ? ca 1770 – bef 1798 | her parents
& 2nd 1798 Martha [Patsy/Betsy] Early bef 1780 – ca 1818? | her parents
of Hertford County, NC

This is my working hypothesis – the way I see it as of this moment!!

Samuel Hollomon appears to have married first ca 1785 Christine and then on
11 March 1798 married Martha [Patsy/Betsy] Early in Bertie Co, NC
Lived South side of Stony Creek.

in Aug 1818 George, James and Thomas Hollomon involved in sale of two slaves
to Josiah Hollomon indicating they were prob brothers — settling Samuel’s estate.

Sam’s estate was split into 8 shares before 1824.
Bertie Deeds
Bk BB pg 239 dated 1824: Geo. Hollomon to Geo. Askew
1/8 share left by Samuel Hollomon desc.
BB pg 268 dated 1824: Samuel Hollomon to Josiah Hollomon
78 acres from Samuel desc.
Bk BB pg 475 dated 1827: Jalon & Judy Hollomon to Geo. Askew,
1/8 share of Samuel desc.
Bk CC pg 746 dated 1829. Patsy & Wm. O. Adams to David Hollomon
80 acres.
Bk FF pg 510 dated 1843 David Hollomon to Jalon Hollomon
78 acres
The other shares were most likely in Hertford County.
These lots were in Bertie just n N/W of the New Bridge.

this means Martha Early Holloman had either died [or married again] by 1818.

Children of Samuel Holloman and Christine:
1. (poss) Bryant Hollomon ca 1786 – ca 1865
married Lavenia Hollomon
dau of John Hollomon and Marina d 1831

I don’t think Sam’s estate was divided until after his wife died. I think he died aft 1805 and before 1810. I think Martha died after 1810. Bryant had an older female in his home in 1810. That is one reason I think he may have been the 8th heir.

  1. Hi,
I’ve really enjoyed looking at your work. It has so much information but I’ve hit a brick wall. My 2nd great grandfather was David Holloman, son of Samuel and Martha. Please tell me how you were able to find that Martha and Betsey (Patsy) Early are the same person. I would love to be able to connect them but haven’t been able to find this information myself. Thanks for sharing.
