This is the Mary Stallings that married William Powell in 1800. You show William in the 1800 census but not in 1810. But you do show Mary in 1810. This is my line. Jimmy H.

State of North Carolina Bertie County Court Nov Term 1833. The last will and Testiment of Mary Powell was proved in open court by the oath of George Wynns the subscribing witness hereto — ordered to be recorded Jno Tayloe C of C

“Between Hertford Co, Bertie around Powellsville, and Bertie around Aulander or that side of Bertie there were two or three Richard Powells. Richard who lived near Powellsville and married to Mary Barnes was not the son of Cader. I know all over the net they show that, but believe me Richard Powell The father of William Wright Powell was the son of Mary (nee?) Brickell Stallings who married William Powell in 1800. William died before 1810 and Mary raised four children, a Brickle child was the oldest, then came a Stallings child , then Richard and Daniel Powell. The four children are named in her will probated in 1833. If Possible would love to see the estate package of Richard/Mary.” – Jimmy Holloman

  1. Trying to find the parents and/ or siblings of Richard Powell so I can see if he is the father of Venia Powell . Sarah and John are shown as staying with her in the 1870 census so don’t know if she was a sister or a cousin

  2. Excellent summary of the family. I’m investigating my family line and have learned that I may be related to the Powells on my father’s side.

Grandparents: George W. Alexander (1898-1970) and Hazel V. Powell (1902-1969)
Great Grandparents: Willima Davis Powell (1880-1973) and Henrietta B. Overton (!882-1923)
    Great Great Grandparents: James V. Powell(1854 – 1944) and Betsey Lewis (1854-1944)
Great Great Great Grandparents: Richard Powell and Elizabeth Voughn
    etc.
