This is my working hypothesis – the way I see it as of this moment!!


Richard Bracewell and Sarah Sampson were married by 1673/74 when they deeded property in Isle of Wight Co to his brother in law William West and Thomas Green.

Richard Bracewell was born in Isle of Wight County Va ca 1652 son of the Rev. Robert Bracewell 1611 – 1668 and his wife Rebecca.

In his will dated 28 July 1724 and probated 1725 Richard Bracewell of Isle of Wight names son Richard Braswell, son Robert Braswell, son Valentine Braswell, son Jacob Braswell, daughter Martha Murfy, daughter Ann Strickland, daughter Jane Williams, granddaughter Susannah Braswell, wife and executrix Sarah Braswell, and wit: Edward Powers Sr. and Edward Powers. GB-174

Sarah was born ca 1648 the daughter of James Sampson and Elizabeth Barcroft.

Sarah in her will dated 20 March 1733/34 – prob 26 May 1736 IoW VA mentions grandson and executor John Braswell; daughter Jane; grandson Benjamin Braswell; son and executor John Braswell; Mary daughter of John Braswell; William Braswell son of John Braswell; Sampson Braswell son of John Braswell and wit: Richard Blow Jr, Samuel Smith, and Samuel Willis.
