Thankyou Sally, for your work and for being thoughful enough to share all of this with anyone who comes across it. (i found a link on a wikitree profile)
It appears we are distant cousins, i am currently trying to find details of William Hayes and chloe minshew, to confirm the likely connection.
In regard to the above comment about name differences, innereyehawk, it must be noted that often our ancestors did not get the opportunity of education, which was restricted and quite expensive back then, names were often recorded as heard, and relied mostly on the abilities of the record keeper at the time.
Just because the census guy misspelled HAYES doesn’t mean you have too.
That generation tended to use Hayse. Names didn’t really get set until the age of computers for records. Some deeds show three spellings of a name in one record.
