Please email John Speight concerning Mary Hinton Speight and Jacob Hinton. My email is jspeight@myglnc.com. Thank you.
Sally,
My name is Jill Hinton Pana, I wrote you about my elusive relative Jacob Hinton who was married to William Freeman II and Christian Outlaw’s daughter, Sarah. A reference is made to Jacob Hinton and his children Jacob Jr., Reuben, William, Betty and Mary in this article dated May 07, 1743 and again March 25, 1723. Mary Hinton is married to Thomas Speight and all are my relatives. Reuben would be my ggg grandfather and is traceable. Reuben Hinton was left a plantation in William II Freeman’s will, contingent on his marriage and having children. He did later marry a Rachel Baker. I believe Jacob’s son William Hinton married Pricilla Freeman. All lived on Bennett’s and Catherine Creek, N. C. close to the old Indian village and Jacob Hinton is listed as one of the 1st white men to inhabit the area.
FamilyTreeDNA Y results show (closest known relative): Micajah Hinton, Hardy Hinton and (James Hinton circa 1642). A copy of Jacob Senior’s will is available on Ancestry.Com but I’m unable to copy it. It names his daughter Mary Freeman Hinton who is married to Micajah Blanchard and their daughter Mary. Reuben and William are also named but Betty is not. Micajah Blanchard died about 1764 and is married to Elizabeth at this time. Jacob Hinton, Jr. is witness to his will and is named as “Friend”. If I can further document this “Hinton Clan” please let me know. I would happily give you full access to my Ancestry.Com if you would like.
Thank you,
Jill Hinton Pana
