This is my working hypothesis – the way I see it as of this moment!!
Nathan Foster son of Joseph Foster was born ca 1680 in Southampton. L I.
He died 18 Nov 1737 in Newark, Essex Co, NJ.
Inventory of personal estate 181.08.07.
Mary Lyon daughter of Joseph Lyon ca 1659-1726 and Mary Pierson was born ca 1690.
Nathan and Mary moved to Newark after their marriage.
A 1713 Newark deed lists him as a clothier living in Newark.
They had returned to Elizabeth by 1726, when a deed identifies him living there,
near Bound Green.
He died at Elizabeth, NJ and was interred at the Old Burial Ground, Orange.
The inventory of his will include silver spoons, books, and a black male slave.

Joseph Lyon son of Henry Lyon and Elizabeth Bateman was born ca 1659 in Fairfield CT. He died shortly after15 Feb 1726/27 in Newark, NJ.
Mary Pierson daughter of Thomas Pierson and Mary Harrison was born ca 1670 in Branford, CT.
He married second Sarah Brown.

Captain Joseph Lyon descendant of Henry Lyon, one of the first settlers of Newark 1667; in Elizabethtown in 1673,
Joseph Lyon was Elder in the Presbyterian Church at Elizabethtown as early as 1759.
He died at Lyon’s Farms Aug 26, 1772 in his 61 year.
His son Joseph Lyon born 1741; grad Princeton 1763; Elder in the same church 35 yrs before his death May 14, 1821.
