John Walton ca 1715 – 1748
& Zilpha
& 1759 Guy Hill
of K&Q Co VA & Chowan Co [now Gates Co] NC
This is my working hypothesis — the way I see it as of this moment!!
John Walton & wife Zilpha had:
from div. of estate of John Walton 10 Oct 1759 Chowan Co, NC archives
1. Robert Walton ca 1742 –
2. Mary Walton ca 1745 –
3. Sarah Walton ca 1748 –
1759 Timothy Walton made guardian of Robert orphan of John)
Zilpah Walton was administ. on est. of her deceased husband, John Walton, 1748, Edenton NC
It appears likely that Zilpha, the widow of John Walton, Jr., married secondly Guy Hill. When John’s estate was divided in 1759, Guy Hill received approximately 1/3 of the estate – the amount the widow would normally have gotten. Additionally, each of the three children’s share was given to Guy Hill for administration until they became adults. When Guy Hill died circa 1775, his wife was named Sarah indicating his second marriage after Zilpha’s death. (e-mail from Bob Nichols)
Martha Walton married Alexander Myatt
