John Harrell Esq is listed on the 1784 tax list but not the earlier 1779 head tax list – with 3 free poles [84] – Sam is listed separately – John is older and exempt from the head tax on himself and I think he may be the eldest brother of these folks or perhaps their father. all found near each other in Hertford County on 1779 Tax list
