Thomas Whitmel was born 16 Sept 1688 in Charles City County, VA son of Thomas Whitmel and his wife, Mary. His father had died before 4 Dec 1693 and mother remarried before August 5, 1695, Arthur Kavenaugh. In the Chowan Deed Book B#1, p.104 Thomas Whitmel of Surry Co, VA buys land from Arthur Kavenaugh of Surry Co, VA on 13 July 1715.
Thomas Whitmel was an Indian trader.
His wife Elizabeth Bryan was born 15 Sept 1694 the daughter of Lewis Bryan of Bertie County and wife Elizabeth.
Thomas Whitmel died testate 24 Nov 1735 in Bertie Co, NC. Aged 47 years, two months.
Elizabeth then married Robert Hunter son of William of Chowan Co. as his second wife.
Robert Hunter died testate in 1753. Robert Hunter’s children were all by his first wife.
[To the contrary, One source says Robert Hunter and Elizabeth had a son Moses ca 1737]
Elizabeth Bryan Whitmel Hunter died 18 January 1753.

This Thomas Whitmell married Mary and lived in Charles City County, VA in 1688.
In Jan 1690, judgment was granted one Thomas Whitmeal in Charles City County. Ct Minutes
He had died by 4 Dec 1693 when they proved his will and gave his widow Mary probate.
5 Aug 1695 – John Weever, who was security for Mary Whitmel as guardian of the orphans of Thomas Whitmel, prays for relief as their mother has lately married Arthur Cavenaugh.

This Arthur Kavenaugh of Surry Co, VA sold land to his stepson Thomas Whitmel of Surry Co, VA on 13 July 1715 as recorded in the Chowan Deed Book B#1 page 104.

A John Whitmoald made a deposition in Surry in 1659 stating that he was 20 years old
