Handsel Uriah Griffith and Virginia Taylor were married in 1903.

Hansel Uriah Griffith was born in 1867 the son of Joseph Hansel Griffith and his wife Margarina Parker [Rawls].

Virginia Taylor was born May 1876 the daughter of Jeremiah F Taylor and wife Margaret Anna Higgs.

H U Griffith had a general store in 1910.

After his first wife died, Handsel married 2nd before 1920, Janie J Horton, the widow of Charles W Parker. Janie was the only daughter of Jordan J Horton of St. Johns.

Handsel Uriah Griffith died in October 1951.

Jeremiah Taylor born 1835 appears to be the son
of Turner Stephenson Taylor 1808 – 1861 and wife Lucy B Inman 1810 – 1873 of Northampton Co NC.

Margaret A Higgs was born in Mar 1837
the daughter of Joseph Higgs [1806- bef 1870] and his 2nd wife Finetta Staton.
Margaret had six children two of whom were living in 1900.

Joseph Higgs was born in 1806 Halifax Co NC, the son of Jacob Higgs [1768 – 1817] and wife Sarah [Sally] Bishop [died 1 April 1837].

Finetta Staton born ca 1810 was the daughter of Bythal Staton of Edgecombe Co. [from her marriage notice on the 24 March 1835 to Joseph Higgs that appeared in “The Tarboro Press”

Margarina Parker was the daughter of Elisha Parker and his first wife Martha Vaughan.
Elisha Parker’s second wife was Matilda Vinson.
Martha Vaughan Parker was born 20 Sept 1812 Hertford Co NC and died 10 Sept 1841 Hertford Co NC.
She was the daughter of John Vaughan and Sarah Rogers and granddaughter of William Vaughan and Sarah Daniel and also granddaughter of Jonathan and Hester Rogers.

Sally Bishop was the daughter of William Bishop died 1783 Halifax Co. She appears to have first been married to John Adams who died winter of 1797/98.

John Higgs married Judath Harrell the daughter of John Harrell and wife Lucy.

John Higgs, Abraham Higgs, and Reuben Higgs settled on the Cashie River before 1750.
They were probably sons of John Higgs and his wife Elinor, who sold their land in Surry Co VA in 1693.
