This is my working hypothesis - the way I see it as of this moment!!

Thomas Whitmel was born 16 Sept 1688 in Charles City County, VA son of Thomas Whitmel and his wife Mary. His father died by 4 Dec 1693 and mother remarried by August 5, 1695 Arthur Kavenaugh. In the Chowan Deed Book B#1, p.104 Thomas Whitmel of Surry Co, VA buys land from Arthur Kavenaugh of Surry Co, VA on 13 July, 1715. Thomas Whitmel was an Indian trader.
His wife Elizabeth Bryan was born 15 Sept 1694 the daughter of Lewis Bryan of Bertie County and wife Elizabeth.
Thomas Whitmel died testate 24 Nov, 1735 in Bertie Co, NC. aged 47 years, two months.
Elizabeth then married Robert Hunter son of William of Chowan Co. as his second wife.
Robert Hunter died testate in 1753. Robert Hunter's children were all by his first wife.
[To the contrary, One source says Robert Hunter  and Elizabeth had a son Moses ca 1737]
Elizabeth Bryan Whitmel Hunter died 18 January 1753.
