This is my working hypothesis - the way I see it as of this moment!!
James Ward and Elizabeth Jones were
married 13 December 1832.
James Ward was born 5 Feb 1770, the son of Thomas Ward and his wife Pheraby
Hill, near Powellsville in Bertie Co, NC .
He married first on 27
February 1790, Delilah Freeman, daughter of John Freeman.
Deliah died 14 May
1821.
He married second on 20 May 1823, Silva Ward, the widow of his brother Joshua
Ward.
Silva died 28 May 1829.
Thirdly he married on 22 Nov 1829 Penelope Hunter,
daughter of Timothy.
Penelope died 22 April 1832.
He married Elizabeth Jones Jones on 13 December 1832.
Recorded
in James Ward's Bible now in the possession of Michael Moore.
James Ward was a Deacon of Colerain (Wiccacon)
Baptist Church.
He was a Justice of the Peace for Bertie County.
He purchased "Maple Lawn" from his brother-in-law James Sidney
Jones III when Jones moved to Alabama (originally the overseer's home,
Jones had rebuilt it in
1828 as a home for his mother, his sisters and himself.)

Ann Ward and John W Moore traded them the Ward place with the house
for property joining our farm Maple Lawn that my father called the
Bass field.
John and Ann Moore were already living in their mansion in Murfreesboro
and Elizabeth and James Delk moved out to Maple Lawn about that
time.

Elizabeth Jones, daughter of James Sidney Jones II and his wife Ann (Nancy) Walton was
born 16 October 1791 at the Jones' Hole in Hertford Co NC.
She
married 4 Oct. 1809 her cousin James Howell Jones (1781-1831).
Howell Jones was Hertford County's Clerk & Master in Equity from 1806 until his death
in 1831. They built a home (the Bazemores') in 1825.
Howell Jones's first wife Nancy was
buried in the Duer graveyard January 1808.
Elizabeth Jones Jones married James Ward on 13 December 1832.
James Ward died 27 February 1843.
In
December 1846 she married the Rev. James Delke (1793-1862).
(He's who cut the trees on the front lawn so his sweet-potato patch could get enough sun.)
He died in 1862.
After her daughter Ann's home burned in 1866 at Murfreesboro Ann, her
husband Major John W Moore and family made their home with Elizabeth at Maple Lawn.
Elizabeth Delke died 1 October 1876.
